WHAT WE DO
ALD Theatre brings performances, Theatre Showreels, Showreel Showcases, workshops, headshots, development and practical networking afternoons together as one connected programme. Each strand supports the others, creating repeated opportunities for theatre-makers to develop their work, present themselves professionally and build lasting creative relationships.
ALD Flagship Evening Shows
Three fully-rehearsed 10-minute plays are performed, redirected by the audience, and then performed again A Little Different in Act 2. Audiences see how creative choices transform the work. Each evening brings together new writers, directors and actors in a distinctive live format.
Theatre Showreels
Original three-minute scenes are written, rehearsed and professionally filmed in a theatre setting. Customers can choose whether to perform in a live audience slot, as part of ALD's Showreel Showcase, or on a closed set. The sessions are designed to give actors strong showreel material while creating a supportive, collaborative performance experience.
ALD Showreel Showcase
The unique ALD Theatre Showreel Showcase presents five original three-minute scenes, each written specifically for theatre, for a pair of actors, filmed professionally for their showreels in front of a live audience. Each piece is performed twice, giving actors distinctive stage-focused footage while audiences experience a professional film crew handling brand new writing.
The Stage Is Yours
A relaxed afternoon of creative development and networking, giving actors, writers and directors space to test ideas, share work, exchange feedback and meet potential collaborators. Contributions can also continue in ALD’s private members’ area, where material and recorded feedback can be revisited and discussed online after the session.
Headshots
Relaxed, affordable headshot sessions focused on producing natural, professional images. Participants review their photographs during the session and select the strongest images for editing.
ALD Theatre Workshops
A two-day practical development process that compresses the full ALD model into one experience. On the first day, writers respond to a commission set by groups of actors and directors. On the second, those groups develop and perform the new pieces, receive a redirect, then rework and perform them again.
