THE STAGE IS YOURS
The Stage Is Yours is an afternoon of creative development and relaxed networking for actors, writers and directors.
Participants can bring work to test, hear aloud, perform, discuss or develop with other theatre-makers in the room. The aim is to create useful creative exchange without turning the afternoon into a rigid workshop or formal networking event.
Why it's A Little Different
Rather than asking people to network first and find a reason to talk later, The Stage Is Yours gives everyone something practical to connect through.
A participant might bring an audition speech, a short script, a scene, a directing question or an idea still in development. With guidance from the facilitator, the room can read, watch, discuss or explore the work together before offering constructive responses.
The format is flexible enough to suit different roles and levels of confidence. No one needs to arrive with finished work, and no one is required to perform or present.
The conversation also continues beyond the live session. With the contributor’s agreement, their original material, a recording of the piece and the feedback discussion can be added to ALD’s private members’ area, allowing fellow members to return to the work, contribute further thoughts and follow its development after the event.
How it works

The afternoon focuses on one contribution at a time.

Participants can bring material including audition speeches, short scripts, scenes, directing questions or work still in development.

The room reads, watches, discusses or explores the contribution practically.

Constructive feedback is encouraged, with the facilitator helping keep discussion useful and focused.

Time is left between contributions for conversation, reflection and relaxed networking.

Contributors can choose to have their material, recording and live feedback added to the ALD private members’ area for continued discussion afterwards.

Participants contribute at whatever level feels appropriate; presenting work is never compulsory.
